Day +11 (take 2)

โ€”

This week post transplant has gone as expected. I was able to discharge the hospital on day +5 and be home for Halloween. Every day since discharge I am seen in the outpatient transplant unit (OTU) for what I lovingly refer to as my oil change. ๐Ÿ™‚

CBCs and metabolic panels are drawn daily and I am given any supplements where my body is deficient. So far it’s been a 0/10 experience, which is expected. It’s universally known that the 1-2 weeks after transplant are the worst. I’m beyond exhausted, my body is in pain from the treatments/low counts, I’m experiencing nausea and I’ve needed 3 platelet transfusions already. BUT every day is closer to engraftment (which happens around day +14 to +20) and once engraftment happens, I will start to feel better. One day at a time.

The meals that have been provided have been life saving and giving. Thank you so much to those who have helped this area. It’s making this transition a little easier.

One thing that has been better, is being home. My goodness being home is making such a difference for my mental health. I don’t get to spend a lot of time with my kiddos but the time I do get I Thank God for. Even just hearing them in the house while I’m resting is a blessing. I don’t feel like I’m a ghost living outside of my life this year. It’s a normal we don’t love but at least its a normal I’m a part of.

Prayer requests

  • Engraftment-Please pray that I engraft sooner rather than later- so I can start to feel better
  • Day 30 labs– We need day 30 labs to show 96% engraftment or higher.
  • Holidays– My enneagram 1 needs help with letting go that our holidays will be different this year.

Thank you for being a part of my healing journey,

Danielle
