SCT Evaluation #2 Complete

Yesterday, Cullen and I had a bittersweet REUNION with my transplant team to kickstart my (second round of) transplant evaluation. I had a long day of back to back appointments and meetings to discuss the new SCT protocol. I topped off the day with another blood transfusion.

I won’t get in to the specifics of the new medicines. If you’re in the medical field and are just curious, reach out to me and I’ll be happy to share. The biggest differences this time around are the addition of total body irradiation (TBI) and new therapies to target my immune system. I will get another central line placed and be admitted twice over the course of 17 days. I’m hoping to stay as outpatient as possible.

Dates have not been set. If you remember from over the summer it’s a little bit of hurry up and wait game. Now that my evaluation is over, my donor evaluation will begin and depending on her availability my dates will be settled. My team feels very strongly that this match is my best chance and I ask for your prayer that nothing gets in the way of allowing her to donate.

We are obviously hoping for a swift transition to transplant. I’m tired of feeling lethargic and unwell. I am ready for a road to recovery; where every day I get a little bit stronger.

Until then we are staying busy with Annie in softball, Jacob in his school talent show (and flag football) and Emily starting soccer. We continue to live as normal of a life as possible for them.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us, pray for us, bring us meals, babysit, send cards, send funny parenting memes, send encouraging texts etc. I will update again soon once dates are finalized

Thank you for being a part of my healing journey,

Danielle
